Hi Fun Gs,
Digital Fashion Week has just passed and I wanted to share my insights with you of how the current digital fashion industry is doing. As I work in this field, it’s sometimes hard to keep up to date with all the changes in technology and new brands or designers who enter and exit the space.
Let’s be real, digital fashion has not been easy recently. Since the hype died from NFTs and the dream of the metaverse, the enthusiasm for digital fashion has not been the same and adoption has been slow.
So entering Digital Fashion Week as a leading digital fashion artist in the field and not knowing where the industry is going to go definitely gave me imposter syndrome. And so I spent the day listening and chatting to other practitioners in industry, looking at the latest technology and use cases of digital fashion.
Let me shine some positivity on what seems a dreary start. After working in this field for 4 years, I’ve always look towards the great potential within digital means of fashion. And I was pleasantly surprised by the turn out of people this year. There was a good amount of people that came to the event, mixture of old and new faces, but the energy was definitely there.
And so I want to share with you my top takeaways were:
Digital immersive experiences within fashion will only increase.
Usage of blockchain will be heightened with EU’s 2030 regulation of clothing items have their own digital product passport (DPP).
Phygital is the bridge between digital and physical fashion.
Having understanding of fashion technical skills and 3d technical skills is ever so more important for working with brands or building your own.
Let’s stop shoving technical literacy to people who do not care, instead let’s make digital experiences enjoyable and have the technology work seamlessly in the background.
My patrons will have access to the full insight on Patreon where I will go into a deeper dive of what the discussions entailed, how it links to the digital fashion industry and what to look out for next.
A great resource for you guys to read to keep up to date on the digital fashion industry is This Outfit Does Not Exist by Dani Loftus. I always learn a lot from Dani’s insight and I think you guys would also feel the same.
